MH Triggers
According to MHAUS (Malignant Hyperthermia Association of the United States), MH may be triggered by specific potent inhalation gas anesthetics such as:1
- Sevoflurane
- Desflurane
- Isoflurane
- Halothane
- Enflurane
- Methoxyflurane
MHAUS also states that succinylcholine, a depolarizing muscle relaxant, is a known MH trigger.
In facilities where potent volatile agents are used and/or succinylcholine is available for resuscitation, a minimum of 36 vials of Dantrium® IV should be available.1
